the shading and the stucture of the face is very crisp and clear, giving a good sense of form and feel. the better idea would have been to mirror the eye and then paint over it again.
also try to avoid using black on the mouth unless the lipstick is actually dark, try using a very dark red or brown instead and this will give a softer look to the mouth.
still great piece overall

it's not how you get there, its what the finished piece looks like that matters!
I'm sure the line of the mouth in the reference was pretty dark, but since I wasn't going to end up with a photo-realistic result, changes like you suggested would probably have worked better.

Out of curiousity, do you use the same painting techniques for the hair? You've got the overall shape and form down pat, but I will quibble that there's too much sketchniess/scribbliness in the details of the hair. The hair would have a weighter, more realistic feel if you made it look sharper and crisper, especially when your'e working on highlights and the tips of the hair (like the fuzziness of the hair around the jawline). Just a minor quibble, because you're almost there already

The hair is something I nearly always leave until last. It's a really bad habit of mine to rush hair rather than take time over it to make sure it's right. Next time I'll definitely try and improve the quality of the hair and make sure it looks good before finishing a piece.
Thanks for the advice
